This forms part of efforts to improving the linkage between caterers and farmers. So in collaboration with WFP, the GSFP’s Agriculture Unit is embarking on a data collection and profiling of all Farmer Based Organizations (FBO’s) in the country.
The exercise will enable the Unit update the existing register and have comprehensive information on the FBOs and their activities, subsequently it will pave way for sensitization of all FBOs in the country on the opportunities presented by the GSFP on structured market. Some MMDAs in Eastern/Volta/Oti regions have been selected for the exercise.
As part of the profiling, leaders of FBOs will be sensitized on the following key thematic areas:
The overview of Ghana School Feeding Programme, its Concept, objectives and importance. The session will also include the mandate and strategy of the Agriculture Unit, market opportunities for farmers and why the seeming caterer-farmer linkage difficulties, Agriculture Models, GSFP payment system and suggestions from participants on
